The Ottawa Hospital has awarded Honeywell Building Solutions with a $17 million contract to upgrade and automate building controls among the hospital’s three Ottawa campuses. The contract marks the beginning of a 15-year partnership between the hospital and Honeywell, in which Honeywell will implement a program designed to improve the hospital’s energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and save $2.7 million annually in energy costs.

The project will include upgrades to lighting, HVAC, and controls systems. Honeywell will collaborate with the hospital on an employee awareness campaign to help reduce energy consumption. According to the Ottawa Hospital, the energy savings from the program will allow it to reinvest in patient care.
