Viewers of this week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., may see a debate over an issue potentially more volatile than politics: room temperature.
His job will be to work with the association’s economic
experts at the Institute for Trend Research to compile economic data and
forecast business conditions.
According to a January NAHB-commissioned survey,
77 percent of Republicans, 71 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of independent
voters oppose eliminating the mortgage interest tax deduction.
The
session will feature Robert C. Ring, the president of New Jersey-based HVAC business Meyer
& Depew Co., who served as consultant for the segment that aired on
NBC-TV’s “Today Show” and “Dateline NBC” this summer.
The newest index showed 73.8 of all new and
existing homes sold in the second quarter could be purchased by families
earning the nation’s $65,000 median income.
