The Keystone State is announcing another commitment to the sheet metal manufacturing sector. After having announced apprenticeship investments last month, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has announced a new $3 million investment in Hranec Corp. Hranec is a Pennsylvania-based sheet metal manufacturer, and a signatory to Sheet Metal Local 12, with plans for major expansion in Fayette County.

The investment, which includes a combination of loans and grants, will support Hranec's ambitious $15.5 million project to build a sprawling 200,000-square-foot facility, creating 84 new full-time jobs and securing 124 existing positions across the state. The new facility, to be constructed on 26 acres adjacent to Hranec's current location in German Township, will significantly boost the company's production capacity by expanding existing manufacturing lines and introducing new product lines, like roof curb adapters that sit under the RTUs.

Speaking about the investment, Governor Shapiro emphasized Pennsylvania's attractiveness for businesses seeking to grow and thrive.

"Pennsylvania is the best place in the country for businesses to grow and thrive — and seeing homegrown manufacturers like Hranec Corp deepen their roots here in the Commonwealth sends a clear message to other businesses looking to expand or relocate here that Pennsylvania is open for business," he said.

Shapiro's administration has made manufacturing a cornerstone of its 10-year economic development strategy, recognizing the industry's potential to spur job creation and economic growth statewide.

"My Administration is committed to making strategic investments, building a skilled workforce, and positioning Pennsylvania as a leader in manufacturing. Together, we're growing an economy that works for everyone — creating more jobs, strengthening our communities, and ensuring a brighter future for all Pennsylvanians," he explained.

Hranec Corp., founded in 1995, has established itself as a mainstay in Fayette County over nearly three decades. The company specializes in the manufacture, installation, and servicing of air handling systems and other sheet metal products for both public and commercial clients.

Steve Hranec, the company's owner and founder, expressed deep appreciation for the Commonwealth's financial support, citing Governor Shapiro's economic initiatives as a key enabler of their expansion plans.

"These funds will allow us to expand our HVAC manufacturing line and provide good-paying, local jobs for our families in Fayette County and across Pennsylvania," Hranec said.

Since taking office, Shapiro said he has demonstrated his pro-business stance by securing over $3 billion in private sector investments. The administration's 2024-25 budget underscores this commitment, allocating substantial funds for site development, small business support, and tourism marketing.

As Pennsylvania cements its status as a manufacturing powerhouse, the story of Hranec Corp.'s expansion serves as a compelling case study for sheet metal shops across America considering their own growth trajectories.
