October 21, 2019

Fairfax, Va. — Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, hired Brandon Whelan, P.E., as an associate and the electrical infrastructure department manager in the firm’s Raleigh, North Carolina, office.

Whelan joins the firm’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) group with more than 20 years of experience and has spent much of his career working on paper/pulp, chemical, mining, pharmaceutical, and renewable energy projects. His expertise covers electrical power system studies, electrical design, medium-voltage electrical protection and control design, and project management.

In his new role, Whelan assists clients with evaluations and designs and improves the reliability and flexibility of their medium-voltage power distribution systems. He is responsible for executing and delivering power system studies and electrical infrastructure design projects for clients in the higher education, health care, heavy industrial, pharmaceutical, and renewable energy markets.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brandon on board to help support our clients in their pursuit of electrical infrastructure improvements to their existing facilities, as well as designs for new infrastructure,” says Shepard Hockaday, P.E., LEED AP, senior vice president, Dewberry. “Brandon has a diverse background in a variety of markets, and that experience is an asset to our department. We’re looking forward to continued growth in the MEP service line in the months and years to come.”

Whalen earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (1995) and is a professional engineer in Alabama, Iowa, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. For more information, visit www.dewberry.com.
