Dewberry hires new engineers to Raleigh office

Dewberry
December 7, 2018

Dewberry has hired Heather Platt, P.E., and Ross Stocks, P.E., LEED A.P., in its Raleigh, North Carolina, office.

Platt joins the firm’s mechanical engineering healthcare group with 24 years of experience, where she will oversee healthcare-related projects from design through construction. Her background includes developing conceptual project programming; designing mechanical systems for large-scale facilities; specifying work results for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; and managing construction. She is a two-time published contributing author for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and a Distinguished Lecturer for ASHRAE.

Platt earned her master’s in business administration from Medaille College (2008) and her bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2000). She holds a professional engineer license in multiple states and is an active member of ASHRAE, where she sits on numerous committees and has held leadership positions for the past 11 years. Additionally, she is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and an associate member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers and the North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association.

With more than 30 years’ experience, Stocks joins the Raleigh office as its electrical discipline manager for the federal group. His background includes extensive electrical construction and design experience in addition to information technology and computer engineering. Prior to joining the firm, Stocks was a chief electrical engineer, where he served as the department manager and oversaw the design of electrical distribution, lighting, lighting control, and fire alarm systems for national restaurant and retail clients. Stocks spent more than two decades in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserve as a first class electronic warfare technician and a second class operations specialist.

Stocks earned a bachelor’s in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University (1987), and was a U.S. Navy Electronic Warfare Technician, First Class (1979), and Operations Specialist, Second Class (1975). He is a professional engineer in numerous states and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, Professional Engineers of North Carolina, and the Triangle  chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.

“We’re pleased to welcome both Heather and Ross to Dewberry,” said Senior Vice President Shepard Hockaday, P.E., LEED AP. “Their diverse backgrounds and unique skillsets are an asset to our team, and we’re excited to continue to serve our clients with dedication, expertise, and commitment — qualities that Heather and Ross both demonstrate.”
