Ultimate Soccer sees game changer with HTHV technology

The decision to use Cambridge Engineering’s High Temperature Heating & Ventilation (HTHV) technology aligned with Ultimate Soccer’s overall business goals. They were looking for a better way to comfortably heat their indoor sports facilities and reduce overall natural gas consumption. But, the organization also wanted a solution that still provided the necessary IAQ the athletes and fans required. And, in this case, the IAQ needed to remain high as well as discharge warm, even temperatures in the cold Detroit winter months down to the field were the athletes and spectators were.

As with most indoor sports facilities, including Ultimate Soccer, the challenge is that ceiling heights can be as tall as 50 feet. Because warm air rises, Ultimate Soccer knew its first priority was to find a solution that could provide as much destratification of the inside air as possible and bring that warm air down from the ceiling and closer to the floor. The second priority was to find a more energy-efficient heating solution that could reduce their utility costs.

Working with a local Detroit mechanical contractor, Ultimate Soccer chose to install Cambridge’s S-Series HTHV technology. The higher velocity blowers in the HTHV units were able to destratify the air within the multiple facilities without the use of any additional destratification equipment. This meant there was warmer air where it was needed — down on the field where the occupants were and not 50 feet in the air. What impressed Ultimate Soccer the most was that it only required two Cambridge units placed on each end of the field to provide the warmer temperatures. However, even more impressive was the fact they saw a reduction in their energy costs, most notably their natural gas utility bill, from the new HTHV units.

Because of the better IAQ and lower utility costs, Ultimate Soccer has continued to rely on Cambridge Engineering’s HTHV technology to heat their facilities as they have expanded over the years. Better indoor air quality makes for warm, happy customers, and lower utility costs mean more operating profit for them. A win-win for everyone.
