IBM launches "Project Big Green"
IBM recently announced the launch of a new project directed
toward energy conservation and heating issues within data centers worldwide,
and committed to invest $1 billion annually to attack the energy conservation
issue.
To put the energy cost issue into perspective, it has been noted that for every $1 spent on IT, $.50 is spent on energy. Along with IBM, Technology Connection, has recently launched the Absolute Zero data center cooling, and airflow management solution. This solution guarantees to drop data center energy costs 27-52%, and lower the average temperature in cold aisles 3-15°F. This solution has a return on investment average of under 12 months.
