RECALL

Stop using your DeWalt DWD110 and DWD112 3/8-inch VSR drills

By Emell Derra Adolphus
Dewalt dwd112
February 8, 2019

Construction tool manufacturer DeWalt has issued a recall for its DWD110 adn DWD112 3/8-inch variable speed reversing drills over a shock hazard. If you, your job site or shop uses any one of the two drills, you are advised to discontinue use immediately and check the drill's inspection code to see if it is affected by the recall. Only date codes 2017-37-FY through 2018-22-FY, inclusive, are affected.

Directions for checking date codes from DeWalt:

This recall involves the DeWALT DWD110 and DWD112 3/8-inch variable speed reversing drills. The drills are yellow with black accents and have a power cable connected at one end. Only drills with date codes 2017-37-FY through 2018-22-FY are affected. If the drill is marked with an “X” after the date code it has already been inspected and is not affected. The model number is located on a label on the right side of the drill. The date code is etched into the body of the drill below the label. Consumers whose drill does not have a date code, or who cannot locate the date code should contact the company.

DeWalt originally issued the recall to its consumers on Jan. 10, 2019. Due to government shutdown, the recall was only recently made public on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision's website.
