Wiegmann Associates completes naval station project
The company served as the HVAC and plumbing design-build contractor and engineer of record
St. Louis-based Wiegmann Associates finished its HVAC and plumbing design-build work on the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island located in Oak Harbor, Wash.
The company served as the HVAC and plumbing design-build contractor and engineer of record on the $25 million modernization project. St. Louis-based Korte Co. was the general contractor.
Wiegmann’s work on the project consisted of radiant heat systems, and high- and low-pressure air systems to deliver compressed air throughout the facility and the flight line for tools, workstations, aircraft cooling and pressure testing, officials said.
The company also removed an existing steam and two-pipe heating system, retrofitted the existing two-story office building with a new HVAC system, and renovated plumbing throughout the building.
The project also included a 43,000-square-foot hangar and administrative building renovations and construction of an adjoining, two-story, 31,000-square-foot addition, officials said.
The facility is expected to achieve certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
