Icor sold to Chemours Co.
HVAC refrigerants manufacturer Icor International has been bought by the maker of Freon and Teflon. Chemours Co., a chemical company with a wide variety of well-known trademarks used in the making of everything from paint to saucepans, announced the deal April 3. Terms were not disclosed.
Diego Boeri, vice president of Chemours’ fluoro-chemicals business, said the addition of the privately held maker of green HVAC refrigerants is a good one for his company.
“Icor has developed an excellent reputation with contractors and equipment owners, has strong brands and an extensive distributor network, all of which will be a valuable addition to Chemours and enhances our ability to meet our customer needs in North America,” Boeri said.
Officials with Icor said they believe the company will integrate well with Chemours.
“Chemours is establishing itself as a new kind of chemistry company and we are excited to join them on this journey,” said Gordon McKinney, vice president of sales and COO at Icor International. “This acquisition clearly indicates the strategic long-term value that Chemours sees in our strong brands and customer-centric approach to the market.”
