The Air Conditioning Contractors of America is partnering with the nonprofit Men’s Health Network to improve the well-being of males, especially those in the HVAC industry.

The association and the network will co-create wellness programs and campaigns for the HVAC industry, officials said. Such programs could include health screenings and testing.

“ACCA is excited about this partnership because the Men’s Health Network has a wealth of health and wellness resources for men of all ages,” said Paul Stalknecht, the ACCA’s president and CEO. “As the HVAC industry’s workforce ages, we need to ensure they have the information and resources available to maintain a healthy mind and body. Men’s Health Network also has wellness information available for the younger generation, who may be naive to the physical aspects of the skilled trades.”

ACCA joins the network as it observes Prostate Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 161,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. About 27,000 will die. It is the third leading cause of cancer deaths among U.S. men.

“Prostate Awareness Month presents a great opportunity to announce this partnership which is dedicated to encouraging men, boys and their families to engage in regular checkups and healthy lifestyles,” said Ana Fadich, vice president of the Men’s Health Network. “We strive to reach men where they live, work, play, and pray — and the workplace remains one of the most crucial avenues for educating men about their health and wellness, and how that impacts their daily lives and productivity. We look forward to working with ACCA and its members to engage them in healthy behaviors in September and beyond."
