HARDI lobbies for tax reform
An HVAC wholesalers group has sent a letter to two members of U.S. House committees dealing with tax issues asking for lower tax rates, repeal of estate taxes and other reforms.
The HARDI-signed letter was delivered to Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Tax Policy.
The letter was timed to coincide with a committee hearing on tax reform scheduled for Thursday. The Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International also co-signed a separate letter to the committee as part of a coalition seeking lower business tax rates.
“With these letters to representatives and our congressional fly-in next week, we are taking advantage of the best timing for HARDI to get in on the ground floor as tax reform debate commences in Congress,” said HARDI lobbyist Jon Melchi. “Committees are crucial gatekeepers in the legislative process and when we appeal to and educate them as effectively as possible, it ensures the best legislation for our industry’s needs.”
