NADCA speaker: Coil cleaning is a great add-on service

By Michael McConnell
April 11, 2017

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Dirty coils stress HVAC systems, inhibiting the ability of compressors to operative efficiently and increase energy by about 20 percent.

But for contractors involved in HVAC cleaning, the moisture and grime that collects on air-conditioning coils represents opportunity.

That was the message Robert Rizen, vice president of St. Louis-based True Cleaning Solutions, brought to the National Air Duct Cleaners Association’s 28th annual convention, which took place March 20-22 at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort.

For NADCA members that are already there to clean or disinfect ductwork, tackling the coils is a natural extension, he said.

“It’s not difficult to get into,” Rizen said. “Everybody has coils, guys.”

Clean coils help ensure the HVAC system operates at peak efficiency, boosting airflow. In comparison, “Dirty coils are breeding grounds for bacteria,” Rizen said.
