ASHRAE conference to focus on net-zero energy buildings, efficiency

March 22, 2017

Registration is now open for ASHRAE’s annual conference, which will include a technical program on net-zero energy buildings and a research summit outlining the latest on building science and renewable energy.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ conference, which takes place June 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency and the Renaissance hotels in Long Beach, California, will feature a keynote address from Derreck Kayongo, CEO of the Center for Civil and Human Rights. Additionally, 2017-18 ASHRAE President Bjarne W. Olesen will unveil his presidential theme during the president’s luncheon on June 25.

“ASHRAE’s annual conference brings together thousands of professionals who strive daily to innovate sustainable technology for the built environment,” says 2016-17 ASHRAE President Tim Wentz. “This conference provides unequalled networking opportunities and showcases top-notch programming that will help those professionals continue shaping the industry for a sustainable future.”

The conference’s technical program will also address the benefits of net-zero energy, how to achieve construction goals in the design and operation of buildings, how Title 24 of the energy efficiency standards for residential and nonresidential buildings will require all commercial buildings to be net-zero energy by 2030, and more.

The society will also offer two full-day seminars and eight half-day courses through its learning institute. Course topics will focus on efficient energy management in new and existing buildings, designing high-performance health care and HVAC systems, and high-performance building design.
