Ingersoll Rand marks green HVAC commitment

November 28, 2016

Ingersoll Rand — parent company of brands Trane and Thermo King — marked the two-year anniversary of its commitment to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of its HVAC market products.

Since announcing the goal, Ingersoll officials said it has prevented 2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. That’s equal to the energy used in 270,000 homes or from 2.1 billion pounds of coal.

“Announcing our commitment to increase energy efficiency and reduce the GHG emissions related to our operations and products was a major milestone for Ingersoll Rand,” said Paul Camuti, senior vice president of innovation and chief technology officer at Ingersoll Rand. “Our progress to date proves we have the expertise to meet our targets while simultaneously providing innovative and sustainable products to our customers and helping them achieve their own sustainability goals.”

Gary Michel, an Ingersoll Rand senior vice president, and president of its residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning and supply division, said the company takes its commitment very seriously.

“We play a critical role in solving some of the world’s most serious climate challenges, including the projected 37 percent growth in world energy demand and working to keep the global rise in temperature below 2 degrees Celsius,” Michel said. “Our employees and customers expect us to help meet these challenges and that is exactly what we are doing.”
