A former Illinois SMACNA president has died.

John A. Brue, 82, of Bloomington, Illinois, the founder and owner-operator of HVAC construction firm Balancing Precision Inc., died June 12.

Brue was born April 4, 1934, in Pontiac, Illinois. He graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1956 and was a licensed professional engineer.

Brue was a past president of the Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s Illinois chapter, and a member of its board of directors.

A licensed pilot, he had logged more than 2,000 flight hours and was a member of an experimental aircraft association.

He is survived by Jane Johnson, his wife of 59 years; four children; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
