HVAC market wholesalers raise $60K for veterans

2015 was a record donation year for charity division, HARDI says

January 7, 2016

The Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Distributions International’s charity organization raised a record amount in 2015.

With proceeds from events such as bake sales, auctions, golf tournaments and contributions from HVAC construction contractors, Helping All Live On donated more than $60,000 to Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit that builds specially designed houses for combat-injured veterans.

“These veterans — young men and women — have gone halfway around the world and suffered injuries that have literally altered the course of their lives – often narrowly escaping death or losing friends and comrades in the process,” said HARDI Impact Committee chairman Dave Chatmon.  “Helping them have homes adapted to their injuries gives them back some independence – independence that we enjoy because of their sacrifices. The question isn’t whether or not to give; it’s how much can we give.”

Large contributions were made by HVAC market wholesalers Coastal HVAC Supply of Houston; White-Rogers of St. Louis, Missouri; and Arkema, based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, HARDI said.

Mike Braun of HVAC sales distributor Gustave A. Larson Co., is encouraging other HARDI members to donate to the HVAC market group’s charity division.

“There are so many ways to support HALO,” said Braun, who serves as vice chairman of the Impact Committee. “It can be as simple as passing the hat around the office or as elaborate as building a sales incentive around it. This is a great opportunity to be innovative and find new ways to raise money and tie it into your 2016 goals and strategies.”
