Three home building industry awards were given to a home construction contractor for one of its zero energy building projects.

Mamaroneck, N.Y.-based Murphy Brothers Contracting Inc. received awards for its Shore Road Project, from the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Connecticut and two Pinnacle Awards from the Hudson Valley Builders & Remodelers Association in New York.

Officials say the Energy Star-certified home meets all of the requirements of the Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home certification program; the indoor air quality specifications of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Indoor AirPlus; and the water-saving requirements of EPA’s WaterSense program. It also meets the insulation requirements of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code, and exceeded the program's standards by having a 4.5-kW Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingle photovoltaic system integrated into the roof.
