Bristol honors vets at ceremony
Ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend, Bristol Compressors held a flag-dedication ceremony Thursday to honor the military veterans among its workforce.
“The Star-Spangled Banner” played as an American flag was raised on the grounds of the HVAC compressor manufacturer’s Bristol, Va., facility. Among the dozens of Bristol employees on hand were 60 who had served in the armed forces. They were given plaques of appreciation.
“On behalf of Bristol Compressors, we appreciate your dedication and service to your country, and we salute your willingness to serve,” said Keith Burton, vice president of operations at Bristol Compressors International Inc.
A monument will eventually be placed at the base of the flagpole to honor all U.S. military veterans, officials said.
