The after Election Day prospects for expiring tax credits used by manufacturers to offset research and equipment costs will be discussed by a panel of political insiders Nov. 13.
“Post-Election Analysis: How the Results Impact U.S. Manufacturing” will take place at 12:30 p.m. as part of Fabtech, the manufacturing industry trade show Nov. 12-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Omar Nashashibi of the Franklin Partnership LLP; and David Goch, partner at Webster, Chamberlain & Bean; will be joined by moderator Paul Nathanson, a founding partner at the Bracewell & Giuliani LLP’s policy resolution group.
The event will take place a week after Election Day. Nashashibi and Goch are expected to analyze the results and what it means for manufacturers. The panelists also will discuss prospects for the “lame duck” session of Congress to avoid $5.4 trillion in tax increases and spending cuts set to take effect Jan. 1, 2013.
“The timing of the post-election panel could not be better,” said John Catalano, Fabtech’s co-manager. “Make no mistake about it, these elections will have a direct impact on all manufacturers, and these Washington insiders will provide their expert analyses on the future of tax credits and tax reform, and how the elections will impact work force development initiatives, energy policy, trade enforcement and health-care reform, just to name a few issues."
