The International Roofing Expo will hold its 2012 Community Service Day Feb. 21.

The annual event, held in conjunction with the expo, is a chance for attendees to help renovate the houses of elderly, disabled or financially troubled homeowners in the expo’s host city. Skilled and unskilled labor is needed for the projects, which will likely include painting, carpentry and roofing work.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the local Orlando community and help those less fortunate,” said Lindsay Roberts, expo director. “The renovations made to these homes will make a real difference in the lives of the family.”

The 2012 roofing expo takes place Feb. 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The homeowners to receive the assistance will be announced later.

“Volunteering brings a sense of increased self-esteem and greater self-worth,” said Bill Good, executive vice president of the National Roofing Contractors Association, the show’s official show sponsor. “I encourage all of our members to participate in this great cause.”
