ASHRAE wants to know what you think about a proposed efficiency
guideline.
It is seeking comment until July 4 on guideline 32P, “Sustainable, High Performance Operation and Maintenance,” by going to this website.
Officials with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers say many well-designed, energy-efficient buildings fail to work as promised due to poor maintenance.
“This guideline outlines steps that can be applied to any building to move its operation and maintenance function toward high performance,” said Michael Bobker, chairman of the guideline committee. “Buildings can be designed to be high performance, but if they are not operated well that performance will not be delivered. This guideline is part of ASHRAE’s effort to strengthen its guidance for existing buildings.”
