Contractor index drops

Even with the decline, Air Conditioning Contractors of America still see reason for optimism: the index is up 11 percent for the year.
The index represents the short-term outlook of surveyed member companies on issues such as hiring and business activity. A number over 50 represents positive feelings on the economy.
The next index will be released the last week of September.
