NAHB certifies 500th 'green' home
The NAHBGreen program recognizes structures that
meet environmental, indoor air quality and energy-efficiency goals.
A house in an Arlington, Tenn., development is the 500th to be certified green by the National Association of Home Builders.
The home, part of the Villages of White Oak, has been entered in the Memphis Area Home Builders Association's annual Parade of Homes. It was built by Chamberlain & McCreery of Cordova, Tenn.
The NAHBGreen program recognizes structures that meet environmental, indoor air quality and energy-efficiency goals. As part of the program, builders must ensure homeowners learn how to keep running their homes as efficiently as possible.
"This is great news for home buyers," said NAHB Chairman Joe Robson, a builder and developer in Tulsa, Okla. "National green building certification through NAHBGreen is the sensible, affordable approach to ensuring that a new home or remodeling project has been completed with sustainability in mind. It's the voluntary green scoring system that ensures choice for both the builder and the consumer."
