Contractors learn business survival skills

March 27, 2009
Members of the Construction Contractors’ Alliance heard how to persevere in a recession during a recent meeting in Phoenix.

Members of the Construction Contractors’ Alliance heard how to persevere in a recession, be a better business leader and received some insights into what the economic stimulus means to construction during its March 4-6 meeting in Phoenix.

At roundtable discussions, some members suggested using “lean” construction, diversifying and restructuring to survive. A seminar titled ““Developing the Leader within You” offered more tips on helping companies survive for supervisors.

Economist Jeffery Collins gave his opinions and what led to the economic downturn and when contractors can expect it to end.

In other business, Matt Erickson of C.J. Erickson Plumbing Co. in Alsip, Ill., was elected CCA chairman and Stephen Jones of Raven Mechanical in Houston was named to the CCA board of trustees.

The CCA is an affiliate of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association.
