Emerson releases white paper on refrigeration

November 16, 2007

Emerson Climate Technologies has published “Refrigerants for Residential and Commercial Air-Conditioning Applications,” a white paper on the related changes coming to the HVAC industry in the next few years.

Today, the HVAC industry is being asked to lead the efforts to reduce any potential impact that air conditioning and refrigeration systems might have on the global environment,” said Scott Barbour, president of Emerson Climate Technologies’ air-conditioning division. “Adopting environmentally friendly refrigerants is an important step in terms of our responsibility as an industry steward.

“As a leader in energy-efficient designs for compressors and other HVAC products, we believe that R-410A is the best choice for most air conditioning applications, and we are committed to helping our customers make this important transition prior to the 2010 phase-out of R-22, the predominant refrigerant used today,” Barbour said.

The paper deals with the planned phasing out of hydrofluorocarbon-based refrigerants and the move toward those that do not deplete the Earth’s ozone layer.
