International codes to be focus of forum
More than 2,200 proposed changes to American building codes will be discussed Feb. 18 to March 1 at the International Codes Council’s 2008 forum.
The Palm Springs, Calif., event will bring together architects, engineers, building managers and others involved in or affected by codes-writing work to mull changes that will be enacted in 2009.
“Participating in the code-development hearings is a great opportunity to make a significant contribution to public safety,” said International Code Council CEO Rick Weiland. “The codes are used to guide construction so as to improve building safety and reduce risk in thousands of communities in all 50 states to safeguard the public and protect property.”
The forum, held every three years, is open to the public. Safety codes adopted by most U.S. states are based on those written by the council. For details on the meeting, visit www.iccsafe.org.
