Hunt Oil Co.’s Dallas headquarters have earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver rating for its interior.
The building earned the certification from the U.S. Green Building Council after meeting its criteria for water use, energy efficiency, indoor air quality and design innovations.
Ben Tyner, Hunt Oil’s building operations manager, said the company always wanted an efficient, healthy structure.
“As an energy company, creating a LEED-certified work environment was a conscious decision we made during the design phase,” he said. “Receiving LEED-silver certification is a great accomplishment for the company and demonstrates our sensitivity to a number of environmental issues we face today.”
Hunt Oil officials said 20 percent of the building’s materials contain recycled content, it uses 23 percent less water than comparable structures and its mechanical systems include monitors to ensure good IAQ.
