TOOLBOX

If you're working with fiber composite materials, you may need a nibbler

TRUMPF's TruTool FCN 250 can be used to separate fiber composite materials as thick as .102 inches.

By Emell Derra Adolphus
February 7, 2019

If you regularly use saws, milling cuters and angle grinders on fiber composite materials, TRUMPF's new handheld TruTool FCN 250 nibbler could make your ability to produce a smooth finish easier.

As a cold working tool, the FCN 250 uses a punch system to deliver rapid strokes to material while a die absorbs the force of the punching. It can separate thermosetting plastics and thermoplastic polymers as well as carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), glass-fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) and aramid-fiber reinforced plastics (AFRP). And unlike saws and angle grinders, nibblers produce minimal dust.
