CertainTeed Corp. used the recent Greenbuild environmental trade show in Philadelphia to introduce its new sustainable products guide.

Tied into the debut of the fourth version of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design construction guidelines from the U.S. Green Building Council, the Sustainable Products and Systems Guide explains which CertainTeed products qualify for points under LEED’s commercial and residential programs.

“On a practical level, the new Sustainable Products and Systems Guide will save green building professionals valuable time when selecting and documenting the use of CertainTeed products,” said Aman Desouza, director of innovation and product sustainability at CertainTeed. “From a broader perspective, it shows how our products seamlessly work together to have a real and lasting impact on quality of life and a material difference in the sustainability of our built environment.”

The guide also includes information on state-specific standards and other green certification programs.

“We are proud to take a leadership role in the movement for greater transparency — a key driver behind LEED V4,” Desouza said. “Transparency around the environmental impacts and health hazards is critical to the overall sustainability of homes and buildings. Additionally, the use of high-performing innovative building products contributes to the occupant health and well-being that ultimately enhances productivity, healing and learning.”
