New York transit station revamped by sheet metal works contractor
Architectural sheet metal works contractor C.R. Lawrence Co.’s U.S. Aluminum was hired to help revitalize one of New York City’s largest transit hubs.
The 180,000-square-foot Fulton Center serves nearly 300,000 subway passengers a day, and is awaiting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council as a result of its climate-controlled and energy-efficient interiors, officials said.
To outfit the center’s entrances and 66,000 square feet of retail space, CRL-U.S. Aluminum was contracted to provide the project with key architectural systems that are designed to accommodate a high-profile, maximal-foot-traffic commercial space like Fulton Center.
CRL all-glass entrances and storefronts outfit interior retail shops, while custom-fabricated CRL stainless steel and glass partitions line the security areas. Additionally, 90 CRL-U.S. Aluminum premium series balanced doors with power operators outfit the transit hub.
Manufactured in the U.S., CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s line of balanced doors has been engineered and tested to perform for over 1.5 million cycles, all while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic that suits a wide range of architectural projects, the company said.
