The hardware and building materials cooperative known as Do It Best Corp., has honored Metal Sales Manufacturing with a Vendor of the Year Award.

Winners of the award are nominated by the company’s sales account executives and account managers across the country. Company representatives take a survey of each of Do It Best Corp.’s more than 60 vendors in the commodities division. Vendors are ranked on product performance, competitive pricing, customer service, product quality and more. The vendor with the highest overall score is named Vendor of the Year.

“We’re pleased to recognize Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. as one of our top vendors for 2012,” said Quent Ondricek, Do It Best Corp.’s vice president of lumber and building materials. “Metal Sales received accolades from our team for their superior product line, competitive pricing, on-time delivery and outstanding service levels. Further, their strong promotional opportunities this year have helped our member-owners grow their businesses, even in a tough economy.”

This is a second win for Metal Sales, which also took top honors in 2009.

“I credit the repeat win to the great relationship our two companies have enjoyed,” said Ondricek. “There’s a true partnership committed to helping independent dealers succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.”

Kingspan earns environmental award

The wall and roof systems from Kingspan Insulated Panels North America have earned an Environmental Product Declaration Award.

According to the company, this is the first award of its kind presented to a North American-based manufacturer of exterior roof and wall panels.

An EPD provides information on a product’s environmental impact. Information is based on an International Standards Organization-compliant lifecycle assessment and verified by a third party — in this case, Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

The analysis considers all processes in the product’s making, including raw materials and energy use.

“The EPD for Kingspan products is a sustainability standard that brings a new level of transparency and detail regarding our products and their impact on the environment throughout their lifecycle,” said Paul Bertram, director of environment and sustainability at Kingspan. “With increasing frequency, our customers are considering the entire life cycle of a product in their search for sustainable building materials. The EPD distinguishes Kingspan products from those of our competitors and underscores Kingspan’s commitment to environmentally sustainable technology and infrastructure on the path to net zero.”
