California's Motion Picture Hospital Goes ‘Green’

The Motion Picture & Television Fund Hospital, in Woodland Hills, CA , recently ordered six natural gas-driven cogeneration modules from Tecogen (Waltham, MA) to compliment a Tecochill® natural gas-driven cooling system that was shipped earlier this summer. In the eyes of company president Bob Panora, Tecogen demonstrated that it can supply technology “with three significant benefits” for the hospital.

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors has begun issuing warning letters and citations to contractors who are not in compliance with the new contractor advertising laws. A notification will also be sent to the publication where the non-compliant advertising appears.

First 'Zero Energy Home' Goes Up In California

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that the first home in the nation to be built under its new “Zero Energy Homes” program is scheduled to be completed soon. The DOE and its National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have joined with Davis Energy Group and Centex Homes to construct the home in the Los Olivos development in Livermore, CA.

Edwards Air Force Base Goes Green And Saves Big

Edwards AFB was facing major rate increases and a decision by the California legislature to prohibit customers from obtaining power from an ESP. These events highlighted the urgency of finding an ESP to provide power at a fixed price for a term of 3 to 5 years. Paul Weaver, Energy Manager for Edwards AFB’s 95th Civil Engineer Group, made contact with ESPs that indicated an interest in such an arrangement, and which also offered renewable power at a price comparable to its original frozen tariff rate.
