ATLANTA, GA — Many energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) have been proven to actually recovery energy, such as heat pipe heat exchangers and run-around loops.

Many engineers understand their benefits, especially in the face of increased outdoor air ventilation required by ASHRAE Standard 62. However, building owners too often seem to think that their budgets won’t support the added equipment cost.

“What can we do to bring this to the table,” asked the moderator at a forum on the subject of the pros and cons of ERVs. Owners don’t seem to believe the cost analysis.
