WASHINGTON - "Energy Efficiency: Emerging from the Shadows to Take Center Stage" is the theme for the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 17-19 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach, Calif.

According to show organizers, the conference will look at the renewed interest in using energy efficiency to smooth market disruptions, energy-efficient technologies and applications, rising energy costs, increased global demand for power, fossil fuel shortages, and other topics.

Conference sessions will examine energy policy, the impact of global events on global energy markets, and the effect of the natural gas shortage and rising prices on industry market growth. A three-hour workshop will be held on quantifying the benefits of energy services beyond dollar and consumption savings.

The keynote speaker is Paul Roberts, author of The End of Oil: On the Edge of a Perilous New World, who asserts that the world's supply of oil will peak within 30 years, and an alternative energy infrastructure needs to be put into place.
