Millennials. Generation Y. Echo boomers. No matter what you call them, they’re the generation many in the HVAC industry are hoping will fill the job vacancies left when waves of older workers retire in coming years.
The Air Conditioning Contractors of America has a new industry relations director.
Todd Washam joined the HVAC market organization March 22. He previously worked as a senior legislative assistant for U.S. Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) and as a staff assistant for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the late Congressman Henry Hyde (R-Illinois).
“Todd brings a wealth of government relations and political experience to ACCA by joining our staff,” said ACCA President and CEO Paul T. Stalknecht. “We are excited to have such an experienced staff member who will help us continue to be a strong voice for contractors with manufactures, suppliers, and distributors, as well with the local, state and federal governments.”
An estimated 1,300 people attended the event, where Monte Salsman, chief operating officer, and Eddie Gibbs, vice president of vendor relations, presented the awards.
Groups like NADCA have done a lot to boost the professional image of companies that perform duct cleaning, but the industry is still rife with dishonest contractors who prey on homeowners.
