Campaign Helps Homeowners Find Electrification Incentives

WASHINGTON — Rewiring America’s new Save on Better Appliances campaign is a nationwide effort to help homeowners lock in federal energy tax credits before they expire at the end of the year. The program is also showcasing new pathways to long-term energy affordability.

With energy costs on the rise, the campaign emphasizes how modern electric appliances — like heat pumps, heat-pump water heaters, and solar panels — can help families cut bills, boost comfort, and protect themselves from future price shocks.

Americans are feeling the squeeze from high energy costs, driven by extreme heat, rising demand from data centers, and stubborn inflation pressures, a press release from Rewiring America said. Energy-efficient appliances represent one of the ways to control household costs, and their benefits will endure after federal incentives expire. Beyond the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) and Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D), there are thousands of state, local, and utility incentives available to help families bring down upfront costs and make upgrades possible.

"These popular federal credits were designed to be available when American families needed them,” said Ari Matusiak, CEO of Rewiring America. “Congress’s decision to repeal them prematurely means households should act fast. But the savings, comfort, and long-term value of these upgrades remain. For homeowners ready to act, we have the tools to help. And for those who need more time, we’re working to expand your options and ensure that these upgrades make financial sense whenever the moment is right."

The Save on Better Appliances campaign will run through the end of October and include:

• A central hub through which homeowners can learn more about the expiring federal tax credits, explore additional state, local, and utility incentives, and find trusted contractors.

• Weekly online video drop-in sessions offering free, informal guidance to help homeowners troubleshoot the complexities of making energy-efficient home upgrades.

• Trusted contractor tools, including Rewiring America’s Contractor Finder, which will soon integrate the BetterHVAC directory to help households find the best-qualified installers.

Rewiring America is also partnering with manufacturers, contractors, and lenders to offer specially priced heat-pump packages in Rhode Island and Colorado, with more locations to come. These offers are available now and will expand in 2026 and beyond, lowering upfront costs and expanding access, the press release said.

Rewiring America is coordinating with elected officials, manufacturers, utility program administrators, and grassroots partners to amplify campaign materials in priority states. Homeowners, contractors, and partners can visit rewiringamerica.org/save to learn more.
