ASHRAE Announces New Leadership Slate and Honors Industry Excellence at 2025 Winter Conference
Society recognizes outstanding achievements in the HVACR industry through prestigious awards

ASHRAE, the international society of heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning professionals, made several significant announcements during its 2025 Winter Conference, held alongside the AHR Expo in Orlando, Florida this week.
The society revealed its nominees for the 2025-26 slate of officers and directors, with Sarah Maston, PE, BCxP, LEED AP nominated for the position of President-Elect. Bill McQuade, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, LEED AP will serve as ASHRAE President for the 2025-26 Society Year. The slate includes Ashish Rakheja for Treasurer, along with Trent Hunt and Andres Sepulveda as Vice Presidents. ASHRAE members will cast their votes via electronic ballot in May.
During the conference, the society recognized outstanding achievements in the HVAC&R industry through several prestigious awards:
Fellow ASHRAE
Twenty-eight members were elevated to the grade of Fellow ASHRAE, recognizing their distinction and substantial contributions to HVAC&R and the built environment. Notable recipients included John S. Andrepont, Oswaldo de Siqueira Bueno, Wade H. Conlan, and Roy Crawford, among others.
Award of Engineering Excellence
Jill Leung and Felix Chan received this honor in the EBCx commercial buildings category for their work on ELEMENTS in Hong Kong, owned by MTR Corporation.
ASHRAE Technology Awards
Recipients were recognized across multiple categories for innovative building designs:
- Commercial Buildings: Wyatt Ross, Thom Anderson and Kyle Waymeyer (existing); Hiroshi Ito and Kitaro Mizuide (new)
- Educational Facilities: Megan Brangers-Wandling's team (existing); Ben Hobbs and Chris Reeves (new)
- Healthcare Facilities: Mário Sérgio Pintos de Almeida and Kelvin Cruz de Oliveira
- Public Assembly: Matthew Stebe's team (EBCx); Nicholas Filamini's team (existing)
- Residential: Félix Robert for Bureaux Rayside Labossière
Student Competitions
The 2024 Student Design Competition focused on a new central public library in São Paulo, Brazil, with winners including:
- HVAC Design Calculations: Ain Shams University
- HVAC System Selection: University of Nebraska – Lincoln
- Setty Family Foundation Net Zero Energy Design: Universitas Indonesia - Team Archine
