DULLES, Va. — Ecoer Inc. has announced that it will use the low-GWP refrigerant R-454B across its heat-pump product line.

The move highlights Ecoer’s dedication to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship within the HVAC industry, a press release from Ecoer said.

The R-454B refrigerant blend, composed of R-32 and R-1234yf, has a GWP of 466 — more than 75% lower than the widely used R-410A. This significant reduction in GWP, a key environmental metric, aligns with global efforts to meet evolving environmental regulations while maintaining top-tier performance. Beginning in 2024, Ecoer will incorporate R-454B into its product portfolio.

“Our decision to transition to R-454B refrigerant reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable technologies in the HVAC sector,” said Louis Ing, CEO of Ecoer. “By integrating this next-generation refrigerant, we aim to provide our customers with efficient, reliable solutions that not only meet their needs but also contribute to the health of our planet.”

The adoption of R-454B will optimize energy efficiency and enhance system performance across various operating conditions, and R-454B is poised to become the industry standard for a/c and heat-pump applications, the press release said.
