Bay Design Associates Architects joins Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood

GMC Bay Design
August 22, 2019

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood (GMC) and Bay Design Associates Architects (BDA) announced the two firms have officially joined forces in Pensacola, Florida.

Led by managing partners Steve Jernigan, FAIA, and George Williams, AIA, BDA is an established architectural firm specializing in the design of educational, health care, commercial, and office facilities. The firm has developed a robust portfolio of work throughout the northwest Florida region over the years, including projects such as the Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA, Southtowne Office Building, One51 Main Mixed-Use Building, and Cape Horn Marine manufacturing plant, among others.

“As GMC Pensacola, we will continue our longstanding tradition of offering personal and responsive attention to our client’s specific program objectives, both new and existing,” said Jernigan, who now serves as senior vice president of GMC Pensacola. “Our suite of services will continue to include those previously offered by BDA while also expanding to include new and robust services made available by joining GMC.”

GMC is a privately held, multi-disciplined architecture and engineering firm with offices throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Their staff of more than 450 professionals is equipped to provide all of the services associated with architecture, engineering, environmental, landscape architecture, planning, geotechnical, interior design, surveying, and transportation.

“This merger fortifies GMC’s presence along the Gulf Coast and complements our current growth within the region,” said Jeffrey Brewer, CEO, GMC. “We have worked with the Bay Design team on several projects over the years and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead through this new venture.”

The firms have been working on integration plans to ensure a seamless transition for staff, clients, and consultants, which will take place over the next few months. The BDA staff will remain in their current location at 720 Bayfront Parkway, Suite 200, operating as GMC’s Pensacola office. For more information, visit www.gmcnetwork.com.
