DLR Group’s Roger Chang Elevated to ASHRAE College of Fellows
WASHINGTON — DLR Group’s mechanical engineering leader Roger Chang, P.E., LEED Fellow, was recently elevated to the ASHRAE’s College of Fellows. This designation is one of the highest honors that ASHRAE awards in celebration of innovation and excellence in the HVACR industry. The Fellow award is bestowed on ASHRAE members who have attained “distinction in the fields of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation … through invention, research, teaching, design [and] original work.”
Chang leads DLR Group’s national team of mechanical engineers with specialized expertise in building types, regional climate influences, and local codes. He specializes in historic preservation projects, which he has said present unique opportunities to implement sustainable design solutions. He will receive his Fellow medallion at the ASHRAE Winter Conference, on Feb. 1, 2020, in Orlando, Florida.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Roger who is recognized internationally for his creative engineering solutions as well as his government advocacy efforts and achievement in state, provincial, and local government activities,” said Griff Davenport, FAIA, CEO of DLR Group. “His technical abilities are matched only by his leadership of our integrated design teams and his passion for mentoring the next generation of engineers.”
Chang works from DLR Group’s Washington, D.C., office. He joined the firm in 2009 and has been in practice for 20 years. He has published numerous articles in ASHRAE Journal and he frequently speaks at national trade conferences. He has led design teams on numerous projects, including two AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Awards for the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery renovation and the Wayne Aspinall Federal Building among many other notable projects.
