Building Innovation: It's As Easy as AEC

By Herb Woerpel

Constructing a building takes an army. Designers, engineers, general contractors, flooring installers, HVAC contractors, plumbers, roofers, mappers, and surveyors are just a few of the blue-collar experts necessary to optimize a commercial building.

Collaborating with each of these parties requires an immeasurable amount of time, effort, phone calls, and emails. Sometimes, things go wrong, and relationships sour. When this occurs, even more time and effort must be poured into the recruiting, hiring, and nurturing of new providers. In this line of work, there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

What if there was an easier, simpler way to forge these relationships?

Well, there is, and I’m about to share the cheat code. It’s as easy as AEC.

AEC BuildTech

The AEC BuildTech Conference and Expo is a multifaceted event designed to showcase the latest design and building processes, products, and emerging technologies. The inaugural three-day event will occur April 30 to May 2 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

AEC BuildTech is unique in that it serves as a mesh point for all denominations of building science. Six tracks will be presented covering plumbing, HVACR/mechanical systems, flooring, building envelope, roofing, and general contracting.

Each track boasts a menu of distinguished speakers. In the HVAC track, presenters include Troy Harvey, CEO, PassiveLogic; Matt Huffman, manager of energy services, Murphy & Miller Inc.; Mike Bailey, vice president of sales and product development, Mestek Machinery; and more.

Dr. Antony Wood, CEO of Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, will serve as a keynote speaker, delivering a presentation titled, “Vertical Cities of the Future: What is Truly Sustainable?”

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Wood as a keynote speaker to share his knowledge on the sustainable design of tall buildings with our attendees,” said Scott Wolters, director, tradeshows and conferences, BNP Media.

Steve Jones, senior director of industry insights research at Dodge Data & Analytics, will also offer a keynote presentation: “Key Trends Transforming the Global Construction Industry.”

“We pride ourselves on giving our attendees the highest quality education program with the most influential and knowledgeable speakers in the industry,” said Derrick Teal, content development manager, BNP Media. “Mr. Jones is truly a visionary in his field, and we are excited for him to share his great ideas and brilliant insights with our attendees.”

AEC BuildTech will also feature a sprawling exhibit hall that will be a key resource for attendees, providing visitors the opportunity to meet and network with leading companies that will be introducing their latest products and technologies in building design, construction, and dozens of other trades.

Why attend?

The AEC BuildTech Conference & Expo is dedicated to introducing attendees to the latest developments in the entire building process from the ground up. This is the only event that offers attendees access to interactive educational sessions and hands-on workshops, face-to-face meetings with the industry’s premier solution providers, networking opportunities with thousands of professionals representing every aspect of building technology, and the opportunity to gain CEUs. But don’t take my word for it. Come see for yourself.
