Trane talks ‘next generation’ schools at APPA Conference
A Trane representative will educate school leaders about the benefits of next-generation school buildings at the APPA Annual Conference, July 12-15, in Nashville, TN.
Kyle Johnson, account executive with Trane’s local commercial sales office; and Kimberly Joseph, energy manager for Bullitt County Schools, will discuss the next generation of school buildings — using Bullitt County Schools in Shepherdsville, KY — as a case study. Bullitt County Schools feature 23 buildings covering 2.1 million sq ft.
Presenters will explain how Bullitt County Schools implemented energy management systems and services which show how and when the district’s buildings consumed energy, enabling the facilities teams to develop and implement strategies to control energy and operational costs. These and other upgrades to Bullitt County Schools generated 17 Energy Star certifications. The upgrades have enabled the district to avoid $2.1 million in costs since the start of 2011, providing funding for an equivalent of 43 new teachers for one year.
As part of the Bullitt County case study, Train is hoping attendees will gain an understanding of energy management systems and the energy, operational, and cost-saving benefits they offer, enabling schools to become “next generation buildings.”
