Climatec’s HVAC equipment business renamed Varitec Solutions

IndustryNews
October 26, 2015

Climatec’s HVAC solutions business will now go to market as Varitec Solutions. The move is a result of Bosch GmbH’s acquisition of Climatec’s Building Technology Group earlier this year. As Daikin Applied’s equipment sales representative in the Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas regions, the company believes Varitec is positioned for growth in the region.

President and CEO Jack Kucera says the new name is a nod to the single most transformative technology he’s seen in nearly four decades.

“As I looked at our business I saw more and more areas where ‘vari’ and ‘tec’ apply to so many aspects of the solutions we bring to customers. Specifically, variable frequency drives, variable flow with both air and water, variable speed compressors, variable dimensioning, and more recently variable refrigerant volume (VRV) have reshaped the industry and created opportunities for building owners and Daikin representatives,” he said. “The combined presence of ‘variable’ and advanced ‘technology’ in the HVAC business aligns with our focus and direction going forward.”

“We’re confident in Jack and the team as they embark on this new path as Varitec Solutions,” said Kirk Thorne, executive vice president, sales and marketing, at Daikin Applied. “Their foresight and planning to take the business into the future is proven and this change positions them to bring a new level of differentiated technology and services to their market.”

According to Kucera, in the early days of the business it was common to think “we’re just trying to air condition the building,” but that’s not the case today. Business today is more complex and calls for more comprehensive HVAC solutions. “We are mindful of the costs to own and operate the building over its life, the quality of the HVAC system for the building occupants, and the overall impact of the HVAC system on our planet.”

One important element of the name change and the company’s new logo is the focus on the “V” and the green feature. “It reflects our focus on the sustainability impact of HVAC design over the long-term owner experience within the buildings we equip,” Kucera said. “The system and equipment selection dramatically affects the experience the owners and occupants of that building will have over the life of the building. It’s no longer just about air conditioning the building.”
