Hart & Cooley names new vice president, general manager

IndustryNews
July 2, 2015

Al Mejia was recently named vice president and general manager of Hart & Cooley. In the role, Mejia will lead Hart & Cooley’s sales, operations, and HVAC product development, including grilles, registers and diffusers, flexible ducting, venting, and access doors.

Hart & Cooley, founded in 1901, was the first company in the United States to manufacture warm-air registers from stamped steel. The company also manufactures and distributes Selkirk hearth, chimney, and venting products. The business is headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, and was acquired by Johnson Controls in June, 2014.

“Al’s experience and proven track record in product innovation and manufacturing excellence will continue a long history of success for both brands,” said Rod Rushing, vice president and general manager of products and distribution in North America for Johnson Controls.

“I’m dedicated to building a business of engaged employees who are customer-focused and committed to innovation, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and execution,” said Mejia.

Mejia has held global leadership and business development roles at Actuant, Rexnord and Pentair, and engineering management positons with General Cable and Andrew Corporation. He earned his MS in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois and his BS in industrial engineering from the Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla Colombia.
