Trane to lead building energy, data seminar at WEEC

Industry News
October 1, 2014

Trane will discuss and showcase offerings to help building owners maximize energy savings when the company takes part in the World Energy Engineering Conference (WEEC). The conference, Oct. 1-3, is held at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Terry Bickham, director of energy services and solutions in the Energy Services and Controls Group at Trane, will lead a seminar titled “Bigger Data – Bigger Buildings – Smart Performance: Using Tools to Target and Visualize Success.” During the Oct. 2 session, Bickham will coach participants on how to “hear” what a building has to say and how to translate that data into actionable information.

Bickham’s presentation will offer ways to assess and prioritize opportunities to reduce energy use and costs while demonstrating operating improvements. Increasing energy efficiency can be one of the most effective ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Trane officials said participants will also learn how to save time and be more effective with tools that apply the data in scalable, vendor-neutral ways and offer an easy mechanism to simplify technical issues for various stakeholders.

The presentation will feature the analysis of three office buildings in very different climate zones (Texas, Washington, D.C., and Minneapolis) and identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) recommended or discerned from the analysis. The expectations of impact/impact of work completed will be used to examine how the methods might be applied to attendees’ situations.

From an understanding of data acquisition and conversion to information, Bickham will demonstrate the quality and quantity of analysis that can be completed, relating even single metering points to facility operations and the enormous potential of advanced data visualization tools.

Trane will also present several energy-saving products at its booth, #501. For more on the conference, go here.
