ACCA publishes maintenance checklist for building owners

Industry News
June 20, 2014

ACCA has published a new “Commercial Quality Maintenance Checklist.” This new checklist, which is based on ANSI/ACCA/ASHRAE 180 Standard, “Practice for Inspection and Maintenance of Commercial Building HVAC Systems,” aims to help building owners and operators select a contractor to perform maintenance on their heating and cooling systems.

ACCA's “Commercial Quality Maintenance Checklist” features seven questions that building owners and operators should ask contractors submitting maintenance proposals. Each question has an explanation for why it is important and a space for recording each contractor's response.

"Regular maintenance of heating and cooling equipment is critical to the performance, efficiency, and life span of the system," said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. "However, many building owners and operators are unsure about what should be done, when it should be done, and how it should be done. By making this checklist available, we are giving them a resource to help them select a contractor who will perform maintenance based on an industry recognized standard."

The checklist is available for free download at www.acca.org/buildings.
