Partner Engineering and Science Inc. earn Energy Star certification
Partner Engineering and Science, Inc., and sister company Partner Energy, have earned the EPA’s Energy Star certification for the headquarters in Torrance, CA. This certification signifies that Partner’s facility meets energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA and performs in the top 25% when compared to similar facilities nationwide. The criteria for selection include analyzing 12 months of utility consumption data, building operations, and tenant behavior.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our energy efficiency initiatives by this Energy Star Certification,” said Joseph Derhake, P.E., president of Partner. “As a national engineering, environmental, and energy consulting firm, we take seriously our responsibility to become better stewards of our community and put our money where our mouth is, so to speak. This collaborative effort with our sister company, Partner Energy, at our headquarters has led to an increase in energy efficiency and a decrease in energy costs.”
Partner headquarters features many green technologies, including efficient lighting throughout the interior and exterior of the building, electric car charging stations, ultra low flow toilets that require less water per flush, motion sensor controlled lighting to eliminate inefficiency of use, and a smart HVAC system with automated temperature controls for maximum efficiency. Additionally, a bed of drought-resistant, low maintenance plants on the roof reduce heat gain and minimize storm water runoff.
In addition to the Energy Star certification initiatives, Partner has implemented the use of rooftop solar panels that generate a significant portion of their overall building energy requirements in order to further the energy efficiency goals of the company and meet the requirements of LEED® certification, which the headquarters also received in September.
