Maxitrol Company announces its “65 years & Still Regulating Contest”

Industry News
September 26, 2011
To commemorate its 65th anniversary, Maxitrol Company announces its 65 years & Still Regulating Contestto find the oldest Maxitrol regulator still in service.  The contest runs for 65 days beginning September 19, 2011 and ending November 22, 2011.  For contest details go to www.maxitrol.com.

“We think the 65 years & Still Regulating Contest is going to be fun but also very interesting,” says Rick Bargert, Maxitrol’s vice president of marketing and communications.  “There are a lot of plumbers out there who will be curious to find out just how old the winning Maxitrol regulator will be.”

Founder Frank Kern Jr. purchased Maxitrol Company in 1946. At that time the company produced a line of gas pressure regulators, a model airplane engine, and serviced the local auto industry. The popularity of model airplanes declined after the war, and the company’s primary focus quickly shifted to regulator development and production.  In 1948, Maxitrol Company was awarded a patent for its innovative Straight-Thru-Flow (STF) regulator design. The STF was the first significant pressure regulator design change in more than a century and became the technological foundation for the company’s growing business.

Southfield, MI-based Maxitrol Company and its affiliate Mertik Maxitrol, located in Thale, Germany, are international leaders in the design and manufacture of gas pressure regulators, electronic gas modulation systems, gas filters, and gas safety devices.  For more information, please visit www.maxitrol.comand www.mertikmaxitrol.com.
