Emerson receives approval for refrigerant options

June 22, 2009

Emerson Climate Technologies announced the approval of R-407A and R-407C refrigerants for Copeland Discus® compressors in medium- and low-temperature applications, per the approved operating ranges. Due to the phase-out of R-22, the supermarket refrigeration industry continues to evaluate alternative refrigerants. With this particular approval, the industry now has the option to use R-407A and R-407C refrigerants in OEM equipment.

“It is our goal at Emerson Climate Technologies to offer the industry the most up to date information on approved and suggested refrigerant options for various technologies and applications,” said Rajan Rajendran, director of applications engineering, Emerson Climate Technologies, Refrigeration Division. “R-407A and R-407C offer capacity, efficiency performance and global warming potential comparable to R-22 and will provide a sound option for Copeland Discus compressors, complementing our existing R-404A products that are available for refrigeration applications.”

For more information and detailed product information including performance, electrical and mechanical data on each compressor and a complete list of available compressors, visit www.EmersonClimate.com.
